The harp is one of the oldest instruments and can be found as decorations in early temples. Irish mythology is especially rich in legends and symbols attached to the harp. When the universe was to be formed, God plucked one by one the 7 strings of the cosmic harp which was encompassing all the vastness of primeval space, and the vibrations that radiated precipitated the worlds. That is perhaps why, even today, the beginning of a song nearly always begins with a chord on the harp. |
